This is the review i posted about my hotel in Odessa

The Days Inn in Odessa TX is an older hotel, easy to find, by several others on Business 20 loop (your GPS may also say 2nd Street)  on the north part of Odessa. Coming from Midland, its exit 121, follow the signs for TX Business loop 20.

Its freshly painted, has obvious security cameras in the hallways and by the elevator, and the parking lot is brightly lit and feels safe and secure.

Despite the new paint, freshened appearance, and bright lighting of the interior of the hotel, and the obvious attempt to make it feel modern and respectable, the entire stay was pretty much defined in the last 30 minutes, as a hotel employee rapped on the door half an hour before checkout to inquire if we were staying or checking out.
It cheapened the establishment to the level of one of those places that you rent by the hour, and someone comes knocking when your time is up.

Ironic, this image…

Oops, I had a case of the dumb.

So I wasnt feeling that good last night, slept alot, finally drug myself out of bed around noon today… Well, I felt alot better after sleeping, but i still had some cobwebs to shake out of my head as I packed and left for El Paso.
So, i had a few things I had to do before leaving
1. Throw out the trash - Check.
2. Be sure and close and lock the window before i left town this time… - Check.
3. Pack enough clothes for the weekend trip to Odessa - Check.
4. Be sure and put my tools in the jeep this time, to make changing the fan again easier - Check.
5. Top off my wiper fluid, and put the rest in the back, so I can put it in the van when i got to el paso - Check.
6. Check the mail both at the apartment, and the mailbox. - Check and Check.
7. Get a drink or two for the road - Check.
8. Top off the gas tank since i only had half a tank. - Oops. Crap.

Didnt realize I forgot to get gas till i was already 40 minutes outside of town. Oh. Shit.  Brilliant Jaime, just fucking brilliant.

And, I only have like 5 bucks on me, and not much in the bank… my fleet fuel card is Sam’s club fuel. I had 2 choices. Turn around, head back to Albuquerque, go to the nearest Sams, and top off, then head back south… which would have made me loose at least an hour and half… plus there was storms coming towards albuquerque, AND on my drive that i was trying to get ahead of….  Or keep on driving to the next Sam’s, which is in Las Cruces NM… And hope I make it.

I chose option 2.  Right now, i’m sitting in Lemitar NM. 156 miles from the I10/I25 junction. The Sams club is at Exit 9, So thats 147 miles from where I am now.  The Jeep’s trip computer says I have 144 miles of fuel to go… Of course, thats totally dependant on how much fuel I consume at a time… If i keep it at 70 mph or so, I should get at least 22-24 mpg, which should let me stretch the gas to more then that.

This should be intresting… Worst case scenario, is i’ll grab 5 bucks of gas at a station closer to Las Cruces, depending on what my trip computer is telling me I need.

Haha. Always an adventure, right?
