A rollover, Stupid cows, Farmington, and a missing piece of plastic.

Well, Its sorta out of order, but in the order or discovery, so meh.

I had a contract in Farmington on Monday.
I figured i’d leave around 6 or 7am and get there soon after the store opens, get the work done in like 4 hours and come home.
Sunday night, i was up all night watching the last disc of CSI:NY season 4 (my gift to julie… that i promptly borrowed)
Last episode was done at 4:45, so I showered, packed, and left around 5:50… promptly forgetting my drill, and other tools and paperwork that i had put UNDER my backpack so I wouldnt forget them… lol.
As I was driving up the highway, i was planning on stopping for gas, food, and energy drinks at one of the gas stations in Bernalillo on the 550 right off the freeway.
I had the two-way radio scanning the Sandoval County SO channel (where i do 911 sometimes) because most of the trip to Farmington would be up in that county, so it would be nice to know where the deputies were doing speed traps, or if there were any accidents or stuff to block my way. I had just turned it on, and heard something about a rollover northbound on i-25. I wasnt too worried about it, because I was only going to travel thru about 12 miles of sandoval on i-25 before i went west on 550. I hit the scan button to see if I could pick up the fire dispatch to find out exactly where the wreck was… Mile marker 238. Which would have been in my way… The fire control dispatcher dispatched Placitias fire and the closest medic unit.to the call. I did some quick thinkin’ in my head, realized that from the point that Placitias could staff an engine, it was still about a 15 minute response, so they were 30 minutes out. Medic 10 is usually about 25 minutes from that area… and I was passing mile marker 228… 10 miles away. Crud. Not only am i going to be slowed down by the idiots that I knew were starting to back up traffic, but I was going to pass it before anyone was on scene. I guess it was instinct that i pressed the gas pedal down and pushed the truck to 75. When I came around the bend, there was a single SO unit on scene, so the training took over. I pulled up in front of the marked SUV, hit the rear lights, grabbed gloves and my jump kit out of the back, got the big flashlight, and jumped thru about 50 feet of sticker bushes to get to the car.
Single patient, 69 year old man, rolled at least one full rotation (we’re thinking twice, actually) and landed on the wheels. Restrained, with air bag deployment.
I started assessing the patient, he was stable, so I went back to the truck to try and call the responding units on the state fire mutual aid channel (you know, i was contemplating taking my portable radio on the trip, but figured i wouldnt have a use for it at all… oops) and came back down to continue with the patient. Another deputy, this one an EMT arrived, and between the two of us, started treating the cut on his head, applied c-spine stabilization, and waited for the engine and medic unit. I got into the back of the wrecked car after tossing the back seat out the side, and stabilized the patient’s spine while the deputy was getting another set of vitals.
I was in the back of the wreck for at least 30 minutes holding very still… i had the deputy grab the two blankets out of the back of the jeep because I could feel him shaking from the cold as the adranaline wore off from the wreck. I could barely feel my arms and hands by the time the fire department started to extricate him from the car. After they got him in the rescue, the deputy got my information, then had to head to a second wreck a mile back on the highway. It was ater 7am by then, so I stopped at Sonic for breakfast, and got energy drinks and gas at the Giant, then headed up 550 for Farmington.
Here are two bad pictures of the car that rolled.

On the way up to farmington, there was a stupid cow standing in the median of the road. In the median. Just standing there chewing like cows do. I was contemplating calling it in,but just then a state police car passed me going the opposite direction, so I figured he’d do something about it if it was important enough. I mean, the cow had to have crossed at least one side of the highway to get to where he was, so, he might get hit if he decides to cross back.

Got to Farmington, did work for several hours, met Mo, ate food, slept at her mom’s house, then drove back to Albuquerque…
And found out, that my debit card is missing… and the last time i had it was last thursday… and that there was a huge chunk of money missing from my account, so i’ve been dealing with that yesterday and today.
